Sylvia McBrinn, M.B.A., is currently an angel investor with ReNetX Bio, a Yale spinout based on technology from Steve Strittmatter's Lab. Before that, McBrinn served as the company’s founding CEO. She is also a member of the Life Science Council of Springboard Enterprises.

Eager to begin her new role, McBrinn said: “I am honored to join the effort at Yale's Office of Cooperative Research to mentor and provide guidance to scientific researchers as they take their discoveries from bench to forming companies that will bring their innovative therapies to the market. I am hoping to share my experience starting and building companies and teams, supporting strategic commercial analysis and my connections with a broad industry network. I have always been so impressed with Yale’s success in translation of innovation and excited to be in a position to add to that effort."

"We are extremely fortunate to have Sylvia join us an EIR,” James Boyle, who leads OCR’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence program commented. “Her 30 years of executive management experience in the pharma and biotech industries, as well as her strengths in sales and marketing, are priceless resources. And Sylvia’s ties to Springboard Enterprises will hopefully serve as a conduit for Yale female innovators as they expand their networks of advisors and investors.”

For questions regarding Yale Venture's EIR program, please contact Dr. Boyle, Executive Director, Faculty Entrepreneurship & Venture Development.

At present, the Yale Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs) roster includes 63 industry professionals that specialize in various areas. Each has deep operational experience and has gone through the process of turning new technologies to new businesses. These experts act as an early “sounding board” for Yale innovators contemplating a new startup. In a logical, stepwise fashion, EIRs help frame both the risks and the benefits of starting a new company, asking relevant questions about everything from the science, to the business, to the market and helping faculty chart a successful path forward. Each EIR has decades of practical private-sector experience in building their own companies and valuable connections with industry and investor communities.
