Yale researchers in the Infectious Diseases Section of the Department of Internal Medicine are discovering the ways that bacteria, fungi and protozoa lead to infection and illness, including pneumonia, HIV, meningitis and malaria. Yale’s labs have made promising advances in uncovering novel mechanisms leading to life-threatening diarrhea and in advancing the fight against malaria, identifying chemicals in human sweat that could be used to design new traps and insect repellants.
